Hartford's Proud, Play by the Rules after school program provide homework support to diminish the battle at home. We also provide drum, drill, and dance lessons to kids with and without learning and attention issues.
Hartford's Proud understands that having strong social skills can open doors to new friendships and prosperous career opportunities and building healthy relationships with other people can greatly reduce stress and anxiety in your life.
Play By the Rules turns the aimless hours after school into productive learning time. We promote cooperation and respect. As a result our older kids are less likely to get involved in risky behavior, are more outgoing and Invest constructively.
We provide kids with something that they are interested in to help increase their confidence, give them a new purpose in life and contribute to other areas of their lives, including academics
We keep children safe, because urban youth are often victimized or at high risk of engaging in negative behavior.
Research shows that the hours between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm are when children are most likely to drink or use drugs, or become the victims of or commit crimes.
Since our program isn’t ran by the school district or a nearby facility, participant get the chance to meet and connect with other kids in the neighborhood that do not attend their school. Therefore, they don’t have to deal with the same group of kids or social and ethical issues. Moreover, kids with learning or short attention spans are always included and feel part of the groups.
